curly hair cocktail

I have noticed for a while that a lot of women have decided to go natural. I have been natural for a while and I have the very rare 3C curls. I have fought these tight ringlets all my life until 3 years ago. I decided to stop the never ending battle because, it was not worth all of the hassle. Growing up my mom pressed my hair with the old school straightening comb and then I took matters into my own hands as a teen and started the relaxer process. The relaxer process yielded some bad results hair thinning and lost so did away with it because, at heart I am a wash and go kind of girl. Nonetheless, I brought back my curly tresses and I have embraced them ever since (the way my mom encouraged me to from the beginning).

I had to find the right combination of hair products to create and maintain the proper balance of moisture and shine for my grade of hair. With much experimenting I found the perfect cocktail (results may vary)!

Alba Mango Moisturizing Hair Wash
Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Conditioner
Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in Conditioning Repair Creme

These products have proven to be amazing for my hair, when used in the right combination. I wash, condition and detangle in the shower; after that I shingle in the Cantu Shea Butter while hair is wet. Then I defuse the top of my hair for 5 mins or so and then pull it into a high ponytail and let it air dry. By defusing the top, I set the top layer of curls, the ponytail gives it volume and air drying allows for your natural curl pattern to take effect. Your curls can last up to 3-5 days if maintained properly! Right now I am sporting 4 day old hair and I can still get at least 2 more days out of it.

Most people use the twist out method for these curls, but this is my natural texture

Hair has not been styled and I do apologize for the lack of makeup! Sundays are the days I let my face rest.
